You aren’t just decorating a space- you’re making a choice.

Big Mug Co. objects are real, not perfect; enduring, not ephemeral; and made with purpose, not just for purchase. We craft raw, hand-thrown pottery built for daily rituals— big mugs and sturdy bowls that endure. Chimneas, smudge bowls, and bells that are ritual ready. We sell functional, no-nonsense ceramics, for use in real homes, with limited-edition drops for those who crave the exclusive. Every piece is designed to last, straight from our hands to your space.

We make pottery that seamlessly integrates into any style home. Our pieces feature limited palettes and bold forms, embodying anti-throwaway culture through functional art meant to develop character with daily use. We celebrate the distinctive variations that make each piece uniquely honest— creating objects that are designed intentionally- for keeps.

maker’s vision

Tanya brings 25 years of pottery experience to her work, building upon formal training in Three Dimensional Fine Art from Moore College of Art and Design. Working from her home studio, she transforms raw clay into pieces that stand on their own in the world.

Growing up in a small town shaped how Tanya sees the world. The landscapes of her childhood influence her aesthetic choices and creative approach. She's particularly drawn to how objects record their own histories through use and time—each scratch, chip, and patina tells a story of existence.

For Tanya, the pottery-making process is both ritual and transformation. She finds meaning in the journey from soft, malleable clay to fired, permanent form. This process reflects her fascination with the material's dual nature: clay begins as something she can shape and control, but once fired, it takes on an independent existence.

Her work honors this transition—creating pieces that will continue their own journeys in the homes and hands of others. Each piece from her studio carries the marks of its creation while remaining open to collecting the marks of its future.

Big Mug Co. is committed to sustainability, minimizing waste, design integrity, and creating heirlooms that will last for generations.
